I think it is less about science and more about personalised play - making your own unique creature is the key element for me - as is opens up a creative journey to the user and offers lots of opportunities for imaginative learning - be that English…

Well...hmmm...good question. I guess its just crazy word for explaining all of us getting together to learn how innovative game design can be used in instructional design. More specifically, what game elements in SPORE can we learn from to improve instructional simulations. And even MORE specifically, how can the game itself be used as a tool for learning either in schools, or businesses.
How does that sound?

Hi Brent. I'm not looking for anything in particular. I just follow the stuff you do with the guild and in your blog and like to participate in the good coversations and hopefully have something to offer as much as possible.

Thanks,
Mike

SPORE Testing not going well ;-)

Why? The kids are on it during the times that I have to play. Okay, so that's not entirely true. I have played for a few hours and reached the Tribe level.
For starters, its a beautiful game. The attention to detail is incredible. I love the look and feel of the game. Its cool that I recognize some of the characters as my creations or those of my kids. The kids REALLY love that part. My 7 year old now knows the different between an herbivore and carnivore. She very quickly learned that being car… Continue

SPORE Release Date: September 7th

Just a reminder that the SPORE Release date is 9/7 in the US. I think it would be fun to have an event planned for that day. Any ideas?

Do we all go out and buy our copy and then dial into a phone conference call and start playing "together"? Or maybe we do it on the 8th to give everyone a chance to get a copy and get it installed.

What do you think?

I haven't forgotten about you!!!

Don't think I'm letting this thing just die off. Does everyone have the the SPORE Creature Creator?
My son is getting his friends into it and think they are close to having 100 creatures created. Its fun to watch the decision making process they go through when creating their characters. Sometime they collaborate together...other times not so much. They go from scary dark creature to cute and cuddly creature. They ask to play SPORE CC more than the Wii or Playstation. I truly believe its the cre… Continue

Welcome to SPOReLearning

Hi everyone!
This is a simple welcome msg. We are currently a small band of rebel learning technologists exploring the possibilities of SPORE. What does that mean? I don't know. You tell me ;-)

What I do know is that my kids LOVE making creatures with the Creature Creator and I can see the little wheels turning in their heads when deciding which body parts to pick. I actually think it pretty fun myself however I've had enough time to do 1 little guy. My each have 20+ each.

So does SPORE have a… Continue
